Legal Personnel and Development Coordinator | WilmerHale
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at WilmerHale, with a Hybrid schedule. WilmerHale is a leading, full-service international law firm with 1,000 lawyers located throughout 12 offices in the United States and Europe. The firm works at the intersection of government, technology, and business. This role is crucial for delivering effective, efficient, and consistent talent management programs for lawyers, focusing primarily on legal personnel and their development within the firm.

• Mission: Responsible for the effective, efficient, and consistent delivery of programs and projects in alignment with the Firm’s overall competency-based talent management program for lawyers, primarily focusing on legal personnel.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Personnel Coordination: Coordinates the semi-annual evaluation processes for associates, senior associates, counsel, special counsel, discovery attorneys, and staff attorneys.
• Mentorship Management: Acts as a consultant and cultivates strong working relationships with Career Advancement Program partner mentors and their associate and counsel mentees.
• Transition Oversight: Coordinates all aspects of the attorney departure and transition process, including conducting exit interviews and escalating matters as needed.
• Leave Administration: Takes the lead on communicating with attorneys regarding leaves, closely tracks leave and reduced hours’ time, and understands firm leave policies.
• Budget Support: Assists with annual budget preparation and monthly monitoring of accounts, anticipating and resolving discrepancies and handling related payments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, alongside demonstrated knowledge of legal personnel principles, policies, practices, issues, and processes.
• Experience: One to three years of experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional services firm, with prior experience working independently on projects and interfacing with senior colleagues.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent written and analytical skills, ability to multi-task, successful time management skills, strong data analysis skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel (including equations and pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: Proficiency in talent management software systems such as viDesktop and Oracle is preferred, along with an openness to technological change and comfort with new tools like generative AI.
