Legal Liaison | Maricopa County
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, located in Maricopa County, Arizona. This role is crucial in facilitating communication between the public and Office divisions, ensuring proper handling of legal documents, and maintaining transparency through efficient record management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process: Ensure timely production of documents, accept legal service for staff, and process monies received from public records requests.
• Analyze: Review and assess various court filings, public records requests, and legal resources to determine appropriate actions.
• Research: Obtain, redact, and duplicate Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office records responsive to legal and public requests.
• Coordinate: Schedule attorney and witness interviews, distribute subpoenas for testimony, and advise staff on subpoena requirements.
• Manage: Track claims against the Office, maintain records according to their status, and ensure distribution within legal time limits.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED, with two years of experience in a legal and/or law enforcement setting.
• Experience: Two (2) years’ experience that includes knowledge of processing legal preparations and legal proceedings. Post-secondary education may substitute for one (1) year of experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Skills: Effective communication in verbal and written formats, operation of office equipment including media recording devices, and preparation of detailed correspondence.
• Bonus: Experience retrieving and analyzing information from JMS/RMS and CAD databases, advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat Professional, experience with video redaction tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CaseGuard, Axon), and experience responding to public records requests and subpoenas.
