Job Description: Legal Internship Forward Track Program (VZ LIFT) for 1Ls

This is a 10-week summer 2025 internship for first-year law students (1Ls) in Verizon’s in-house legal department. The program is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of in-house legal practice.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to meaningful projects within the in-house legal department.
• Work on diverse assignments across various practice areas.
• Participate in learning experiences such as executive sessions with legal and business leaders, legal training workshops, practice area meetings, and collaborations with partner law firms.
• Build professional and personal growth through the internship experience.

Post-Internship:

Upon successful completion, interns will join an alumni network, maintaining connections with mentors, gaining exposure to top law firms, and participating in annual alumni events.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid internship based in Washington, D.C., with a combination of work-from-home and in-office days (minimum eight office days per month) determined by the manager. Relocation assistance may be available if needed. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing and transportation.

Qualifications:

• Must be a motivated self-starter, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a current first-year law student (1L) with a graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions.
• Must be willing to work virtually and in-person and attend company events.
• Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
• Strong verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.
• Analytical and leadership skills.

The internship offers a full-time schedule (40 hours per week). Compensation is incentive-based, with the potential to earn more. The salary range varies based on location, experience, and skills.
