The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) is dedicated to reducing excessive and frivolous litigation to restore fairness and balance to the civil justice system through legislative, judicial, and educational activities.

Job Description:

This is a part-time Legal Intern position within the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR), scheduled from Monday, September 15 through Friday, November 21, 2025. The intern will work up to 20 hours per week on a hybrid schedule, requiring at least two days a week at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. Fully remote applications will not be considered. The internship pays $20.00 per hour, and academic credit may be available.

The Legal Intern will assist ILR in implementing federal and state programs through various tasks:

• Conducting specific issue-related research.
• Writing analytical memos.
• Participating in ILR member task force calls, meetings, and other important events.
• Attending/watching and reporting on congressional hearings and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and pursuing a Juris Doctorate.
• Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and Outlook .

The internship requires U.S. work authorization and is open to candidates with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and/or Optional Practical Training (OPT).
