About Cisco Legal Experience Acceleration Program (LEAP)

The LEAP Internship:

The LEAP program recruits 1L law students for an 11-week summer internship. Interns will have the opportunity to work across various legal practice groups, helping to enable Cisco’s mission of building innovative technologies for customers worldwide.
The program offers:
• Exposure to a wide range of legal practice areas: Gaining experience in supporting Cisco’s internal client base.
• Opportunity to drive projects: Contributing to the development and sale of leading networking, security, and collaboration products and services.
• Practical in-house experience: Equipping you for today’s complex legal environment.
• Exposure to a leading legal department: Learning from a department recognized for its evolution in legal practices.
• Hands-on mentoring and coaching: Understanding the client perspective through direct engagement.
• Research and delivery of an end-of-summer project: Presenting your findings to Cisco Legal’s Senior Leadership Team.
• Potential for future opportunities: First-year interns may be invited back for a second summer after their 2L year, and a 2-year rotation program following law school graduation.
Who You’ll Work With:
You’ll be part of Cisco Legal, a global, multidisciplinary team of attorneys and legal professionals working across all aspects of Cisco to provide well-documented legal solutions.
What You’ll Do:
• Work on groundbreaking legal issues for the company.
• Gain experience and exposure to a wide variety of practice areas.
• Drive projects that enable the business to develop and sell innovative products and services.
• Obtain practical in-house experience.
• Benefit from exposure to a leading legal department.
• Gain a better understanding of the client perspective.
• Research and deliver an end-of-summer project.
Who You Are:
• A first-year law student for academic year 2024/2025, with a strong interest in in-house legal work.
• Focused on attention to detail and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Possessing outstanding organizational and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Actively pursuing a degree at an accredited law school, having completed no more than two semesters of law school.
• Available to start the internship program as part of a cohort from May 19 – August 1, 2025.
• Able to legally live and work in the country for which you are applying, without visa support or sponsorship.
