Legal Assistant | Kanner & Pintaluga

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Kanner & Pintaluga. With nearly 100 lawyers and more than 30 offices across the Central and Southeastern United States, the firm’s primary goal is to achieve the most favorable outcomes for its clients, who have the absolute right to receive the maximum compensation for their damages. The Legal Assistant holds a crucial position as an essential contact point between the Firm, subsequent attorneys, and insurance companies. This role directly supports attorneys by assisting with ongoing cases, preparing them thoroughly for trial when needed, conducting important fact-finding projects, and diligently maintaining all case files.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Perform comprehensive secretarial, clerical, and data entry duties to ensure the seamless operation of legal processes and office functions.
• Document Management & Filing: Efficiently manage legal documents using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe, including the critical task of e-filing legal documents accurately within Florida’s E-Portal System.
• Scheduling & Calendar Management: Proactively maintain the attorney’s calendar and meticulously schedule various legal proceedings such as depositions, pre-depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings, alongside setting up necessary court calls or Zoom for hearings.
• Litigation Preparation: Provide direct assistance to attorneys in preparing for all stages of litigation, including depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are at hand.
• Legal Document Creation & Communication: Draft a variety of legal court documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas, and manage correspondence with all parties and non-parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail, while also communicating directly with clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant, specifically within first-party property or general litigation, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiently utilize Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook), along with experience in case management software, and the ability to e-file in both state and federal courts.
• Work Ethic & Communication: Exhibit the ability to manage a heavy workload, possess excellent organizational skills to multitask and prioritize effectively, and communicate with clients and co-workers efficiently.
• Bonus: Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred for this role.
