The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Porter Foster Rorick LLP, located in Seattle, WA. Porter Foster Rorick LLP is a Seattle-based law firm representing school districts across the state of Washington. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes, providing essential support for litigation, and maintaining critical court compliance. The Legal Assistant directly contributes to the firm’s ability to effectively serve its clients through meticulous organization and proactive assistance.

• Mission: Support the legal team with litigation and administrative tasks to ensure efficient firm operations and client service.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Outlook, Clio (preferred), NetDocuments (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Filing: File legal documents within federal and Washington court systems, including PERC and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
• Litigation Support: Provide comprehensive litigation support, including creating and organizing exhibits, developing proper pleading templates, finalizing and filing pleadings, issuing subpoenas, notices of depositions, and scheduling depositions with multiple witnesses.
• File Management: Maintain accurate digital and hardcopy case files for all active matters.
• Calendar Management: Manage and track all court deadlines to ensure timely compliance and proactive scheduling.
• Administrative Assistance: Assist with monthly billing review and perform general office duties such as answering phones, reception, faxing, copying, scanning, and emailing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An experienced legal assistant ready to support a law firm representing school districts.
• Experience: At least four years of law firm experience, with a working knowledge of and experience filing pleadings in federal and Washington courts.
• Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills, excellent communication skills, close attention to detail, a teamwork mindset, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Bonus: Knowledge of legal and document management software such as Clio and NetDocuments is preferred.
