Legal Assistant | Kanner & Pintaluga

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Kanner & Pintaluga, located in Georgia. Founded in 2003, Kanner & Pintaluga is an NLJ500 and Mid-Market Pro 50 law firm with nearly 100 lawyers across more than 30 offices, renowned for recovering over $1 billion for property damage and personal injury clients. This role is crucial for supporting attorneys and litigation paralegals, ensuring smooth case progression by meticulously managing documentation and communications to help clients achieve maximum compensation.

• Team: Works directly with an attorney and litigation paralegal.
• Mission: To support ongoing cases by managing documentation, records, and client communication in compliance with Georgia’s Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Pro or other similar PDF software, Georgia’s E-portal system, case management system.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Documentation: Obtain, organize, and review medical records, updated bills, liens, loans, and PIP logs, ensuring all documentation is accurately renamed and prepared for case use.
• Legal Drafting and Filing: Draft various legal documents, including subpoenas, for attorney review and approval, and e-file these documents proficiently using Georgia’s E-portal system.
• Client and Opposing Counsel Communication: Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, providing monthly updates and coordinating client transportation for appointments, while also communicating with opposing counsel.
• Financial and Lien Management: Audit medical bills, process invoices for records, and meticulously review health liens, preparing health lien keys and disputing any unrelated claims.
• Case Management Support: Maintain the attorney’s calendar, save all relevant documents, and accurately enter witness and contact names into the case management system to keep files current and accessible.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school/GED diploma required, coupled with strong customer service skills.
• Experience: Legal experience, particularly involving client interaction, is preferred. Proficiency is required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro or other similar PDF software.
• Skills: Fluent bilingual communication in English/Spanish, effective and efficient communication abilities, excellent organizational skills, capability to manage a heavy workload, and a teamwork-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Proficiency in Creole is a plus.
