Legal Assistant 1 | Multnomah County

This role is essential for providing critical administrative support that enables lawyers and paralegals within the Attorney’s Office to effectively serve the county.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Manage office supplies, process invoices, handle new hire paperwork, and maintain essential office templates.
• Legal Case Management: Assist lawyers and paralegals with e-filing court documents, organizing case files, and proofreading legal documents for accuracy.
• Information Handling: Help with e-discovery and public records requests, ensuring information is managed with care and precision.
• Office Reception: Serve as the primary point of contact for the office, greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to inquiries from various parties.
• File System Ownership: Take ownership of the office’s filing system, including opening, maintaining, archiving case files, and processing tort claim and incident notices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Skills: Office administration, legal and case file management, e-filing, document proofreading, public records assistance, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Bonus: Experience in public sector municipal law or a legal/professional office setting; experience with Clio, Everlaw, Westlaw, and Google Documents.
