Legal Administrative Assistant | Offit Kurman

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Offit Kurman, located in New York City. Offit Kurman is a growing Am Law 200 firm that provides comprehensive legal services to a diverse client base. This position is vital for supporting the firm’s busy Litigation practice, where attorneys rely on skilled administrative and organizational assistance to manage complex cases effectively. The Legal Administrative Assistant directly contributes to the firm’s commitment to client service and operational excellence by ensuring seamless workflow and compliance with court procedures.

• Mission: This role ensures the efficient administrative and organizational support for the Litigation practice, contributing to timely filings, client service, and case progress.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), document management systems, time-entry software, NYSCEF, CM/ECF.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare and finalize a diverse range of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and professional correspondence.
• Manage electronic court filings diligently through NYSCEF, CM/ECF, and other systems, ensuring strict adherence to court rules and deadlines.
• Organize and meticulously maintain both electronic and physical client files, pleadings, exhibits, and all other case-related documentation.
• Proactively monitor and manage attorney calendars and case deadlines, ensuring timely completion of filings, court appearances, and client commitments.
• Coordinate the logistics for hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and conference calls related to litigation matters.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of five (5) years of legal administrative experience, specifically within a law firm or professional services environment supporting litigation practices.
• Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience with electronic court filing systems such as NYSCEF and CM/ECF is required. Prior experience supporting complex commercial litigation matters is a distinct advantage.
• Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, crucial for managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven setting; strong proficiency in legal document production, including advanced formatting, proofreading, and quality control; excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong commitment to client service; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other legal technology platforms.
