What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Management: Draft and proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy, proper formatting, and adherence to all applicable legal standards and regulations.
• Administrative Coordination: Coordinate meetings, manage schedules, and organize travel arrangements for attorneys and other legal staff efficiently.
• File Organization: Maintain and organize legal files, ensuring all important case documents are easily accessible and well-managed for the legal team.
• Research and Reporting: Conduct legal research as requested by attorneys, summarizing and reporting findings effectively to aid in legal processes.
• Communication & Support: Handle incoming and outgoing communication, assist with the preparation and timely submission of court filings, and provide general administrative support including typing and data entry.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A minimum of two years of professional experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant or in a similar administrative support role, ideally within a law firm or legal department.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in proofreading with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of legal terminology and principles. Possess excellent typing skills, enabling the quick and accurate production of legal documents. Practical experience in drafting and formatting legal documents is also required.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain comprehensive legal files. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. The ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality is paramount. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook, is necessary. The candidate must also possess a proactive approach, capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Bonus: A degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field is preferred.
