Lead Instructor | Black Rocket

This is a summer seasonal position at Black Rocket, located in various partner regions across 30+ states. The company creates unique educational programs for children and young adults, focusing on the intersection of creativity and technology. This role is crucial for delivering engaging, hands-on learning experiences that ignite students’ talents and enhance their critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. The TL;DR
• Role: Contract
• Type: Seasonal (4-10 weeks, Monday-Friday)
• Location: Various Partner Regions (In-person)
• Pay: $18–$24 hourly
• Mission: Lead and teach engaging technology and creativity-focused classes to children, helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Tech Stack: Python, JavaScript, Lua, Roblox, Minecraft, 3D modeling, game creation, animation, robotics, video editing, digital arts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Educate: Deliver exciting and engaging classes on technology and creativity to children aged 6-11 or 8-14.
• Manage: Lead a classroom effectively, managing up to 12 children independently or up to 25 children with an assistant.
• Prepare: Complete required online training in May, prior to the commencement of the summer program.
• Facilitate: Ensure safe transfer and management of equipment between sites as needed for various classes.
• Inspire: Cultivate student interest in subjects like video game creation, animation, robotics, movie making, and core STEM concepts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience: Available to work a minimum of 4 weeks, Monday through Friday, starting in June, and possess reliable transportation within a partner region.
• Skills: Strong technology skills in areas such as 3D modeling, coding, game creation, animation, robotics, video editing, or significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox; a genuine enthusiasm for working with children.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates are college graduates with a degree in education, digital arts, computer science, information technology, or related fields, or graduating college seniors with student teaching experience; experience with children in an educational setting is a plus.
