Job Description:

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a LCL949 B,A Or SPECIAL TECHNICIAN – C&M to join their team in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. This role involves performing quality construction and maintenance on gas distribution systems, propane-air plants, and related equipment. You will operate and maintain various construction equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

• Assemble, install, repair, test, and maintain gas distribution systems and related equipment, including meters and regulators.
• Respond to emergencies to maintain public and personal safety.
• Operate equipment used in the protection, repair, replacement, and installation of new gas mains and services.
• Perform routine operator maintenance on all equipment used in construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Inspect distribution system maps and drawings to determine location, gas flow patterns, and pressures.
• Follow Operations Manual procedures and ensure crew compliance with company codes and regulatory standards.
• Perform tasks including leak surveys, line locating, foreign construction work, meter reading, chart changing, transporting equipment, and fleet maintenance.
• Participate in external and internal training to increase job knowledge and certify qualifications.
• Advise and assist other employees on-the-job.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a certification program in natural gas distribution, installation, and repair, or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
• B: No experience required.
• A: Minimum one year of experience in installing and repairing services and mains. Demonstrated knowledge of excavation equipment. Must be a Technician B for at least six months.
• SPECIAL: Minimum two years of experience in installing and repairing services and mains. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with excavation equipment.
