What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct legal research, analyze statutes and case law, and summarize findings in clear, organized memoranda.
• Document Drafting: Assist with drafting and formatting pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery requests, and other family law documents.
• File Management: Organize case files, maintain calendars and deadlines, and review filings for accuracy and completeness.
• Preparation Support: Help prepare attorneys for hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Communication: Communicate with attorneys and staff regarding case updates and potentially interact with clients in a professional and empathetic manner.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrollment in or completion of a law degree (JD) or paralegal program, or equivalent legal training, with a strong foundation in family law or general law.
• Experience: Practical experience or coursework supporting effective case analysis, application of legal principles, and proficiency in legal document preparation.
• Skills: Excellent research skills, strong writing and communication abilities, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines.
• Bonus: Prior family law experience or internship is preferred.
