Launch Program Financial Analysts Intern | SAIC

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at SAIC, located in El Segundo, CA. SAIC is seeking a motivated individual to join the Office of Space Launch Budget Team, providing critical support for launch budget activities. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge of government and SAIC financial processes. The intern will play a key part in developing financial reports and briefings, assisting leadership in understanding complex financial information.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Develop comprehensive financial reports, including forecasts and execution plans, track deviations, and provide analysis and rationale for expenditures data.
• Budgetary Support & Services: Provide essential program management, budgetary, and financial services and products to support the Office of Space Launch Budget Team.
• Database & Data Management: Develop and maintain a staffing database CLIN for engineering and mission projects, ensuring accurate data tracking and reporting.
• Customer & Contract Oversight: Support the planning and financial oversight of customer requirements and assist in the development of Contract Financial Status Reports (CFSR) and associated financial data.
• Strategic Scenario Planning: Perform “quick reaction” scenario studies in collaboration with Launch Budget Teams to support strategic planning and decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Seeking a bachelor’s degree in business or finance, ideal for an entry-level intern aiming to understand government and SAIC financial processes.
• Experience: Requires previous internship experience. Must have or be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph. Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, WORD, Power BI) is essential.
• Skills: A strong understanding of handling sensitive information with discretion; ability to convey complex financial information clearly and articulately; strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of the acquisition lifecycle requirements; experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and MS TEAMS; strong communication and coordination skills; and experience in desktop software for spreadsheet, briefing, and database development.
