Job Description: Labor Relations Intern
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of labor relations at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. The Labor Relations Intern will work closely with the Labor Relations team, providing support in various aspects of managing employee relations and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Here’s a detailed overview of the responsibilities:
• Assisting with negotiation and arbitration logistics: The intern will play a supporting role in the negotiation process, providing administrative support and assisting with the organization of meetings and documentation.
• Supporting Labor Relations personnel with grievances, effects bargaining, and operations initiatives: The intern will assist in resolving employee grievances, participate in effects bargaining discussions, and contribute to ongoing initiatives related to labor relations.
• Conducting legal research and gathering confidential information: The intern will be tasked with researching labor and human resource laws, such as the NLRA and Title VII, to provide information to internal and external stakeholders. They will also gather confidential information in response to inquiries.
• Archiving and maintaining documents: The intern will be responsible for organizing and maintaining important documents related to labor relations, ensuring proper storage and retrieval.
• Supporting projects and initiatives: The intern will contribute to various projects and initiatives led by the Labor Relations team, assisting with research, analysis, and implementation.
In addition to these responsibilities, the intern will also receive training to assist with administrative functions, providing backup support when needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• High functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage fluctuating priorities.
• Ability to multitask and be flexible in handling changing situations.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual.
• High functional knowledge of Workday, SharePoint, and Teams.
Education Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participating in the internship program.
• OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months.
• OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
• A student studying in their Junior or Senior year is eligible to apply.
• A major in Industrial and Labor Relations is preferred.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization.
• Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
• The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
• Must be fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.
• Able to provide own housing in the Anaheim, CA area.
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Pay rate for this role in California is $22.00 per hour.
• Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
