Job Description: Labor Relations Intern

This internship will be held at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Orlando, Florida and will run from approximately January 2025 through June 2025.

About the Role

The Labor Relations Intern will provide vital support to the Labor Relations team. They will assist in managing site-specific collective bargaining agreements, handling grievances, and resolving labor-management issues. This position may also provide administrative support during union contract negotiations, effects bargaining, and arbitrations.

Responsibilities:

Negotiation and Arbitration Logistics: Assist with logistical planning and support for negotiations and arbitration proceedings.
Grievance and Effects Bargaining Support: Collaborate with Labor Relations personnel on grievance handling, effects bargaining, and operations initiatives.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research and share findings with internal and external stakeholders.
Information Gathering: Gather confidential information in response to inquiries.
Document Management: Archive and maintain relevant documents.
Project and Initiative Support: Contribute to various projects and initiatives within the Labor Relations team.
Administrative Support: Provide backup support for administrative functions.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Microsoft Office Proficiency: Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Organizational Skills: Demonstrated strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Initiative: Ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and addressing issues.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues.
Pressure Management: Ability to work well under pressure, manage fluctuating priorities, and adapt to changing situations.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Understanding: Ability to understand and follow complex technical instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual: Fluency in a second language (preferred but not required).
Workday, SharePoint, and Teams Knowledge: Proficiency in Workday, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams platforms.

Education:

Enrolled in College/University: Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship.
Recent Graduate: Must have graduated from a college/university within the past six months.
Disney College Program/Professional Internship: Current participation in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship is eligible.
Junior or Senior Year: Applicants should be in their junior or senior year of study.
Preferred Major: A major in Industrial and Labor Relations is preferred, but not required.

Eligibility Requirements:

Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work Authorization: Must possess unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
Disney Employment History: Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Appearance Guidelines: Must comply with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
Availability: Must be fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, working 40 hours per week.
Housing: Must provide own housing in the Orlando, FL area.
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
