Job Title: Junior Staff Accountant (Internship)

Job Type: This is an internship position designed for individuals pursuing or who have recently completed a degree in accounting or a related field. It is a part-time role, requiring 10–20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling available to accommodate academic commitments. The internship has a duration of 12 weeks and offers the potential for a permanent role based on the intern’s performance and the firm’s business needs.

Location: On-site

Compensation: $20 per hour

Start Date: September 2025

Position Overview and Key Responsibilities:
The Junior Staff Accountant intern will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of public accounting, specifically supporting small business clients in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory functions. The intern will work closely with senior team members, learning best practices, developing technical skills, and building a foundation for a career in public accounting.

Key responsibilities can include:

Bookkeeping & Accounting:
• Maintaining and updating client records in QuickBooks Online, including transaction entry, reporting, and system organization.
• Processing and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assisting with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Supporting the preparation of financial statements for review by senior staff.
Payroll Support:
• Assisting with processing client payrolls and payroll tax filings.
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting compliance efforts.
Client Advisory Assistance:
• Preparing reports and schedules for client meetings.
• Participating in the research of accounting and tax issues as assigned.
General Administrative Tasks:
• Maintaining organized client files and documentation.
• Responding to client emails and phone inquiries as directed.

Qualifications:

Education:
• Pursuing or recently completed an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks) is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
