Junior Staff Accountant

Location: Princeton, New Jersey (Fully On-site)

Are you a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a solid foundation in general accounting? Our client, a leading global organization based in Princeton, New Jersey, is actively seeking a dedicated Junior Staff Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is a fully on-site position perfect for someone who possesses existing experience with, or is highly motivated to learn and implement, AI-driven tools and automation technologies to significantly enhance accounting workflows, improve data accuracy, and reduce processing time.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with the finance team to identify opportunities for process improvement in current accounting solutions and propose innovative enhancements.
  • Perform comprehensive day-to-day accounting functions, including, but not limited to:
    • Accurately preparing and posting journal entries.
    • Executing precise bank and credit card charge reconciliations.
    • Efficiently processing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
    • Providing essential support for month-end closing activities.
  • Assist in the meticulous preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring full compliance with all relevant accounting standards.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and easily accessible financial records in both digital and physical formats.
  • Proactively stay updated on emerging trends in finance and accounting technology, and readily share new knowledge and insights with the team to foster continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strict compliance with internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Undertake all other duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective operation of the finance department.

Qualifications

  • Education: College degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
  • Experience: A strong professional background with 5+ years’ experience in finance/accounting.
  • Technological Acumen: Demonstrated experience with AI tools and resources, or a strong desire and proven ability to quickly learn and apply new automation technologies to accounting processes.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Accounting Principles: Strong understanding and practical experience with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Confidentiality: Proven ability to handle and maintain highly confidential financial information with utmost discretion and integrity.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • HRIS Experience (Desired): Experience with Paylocity or a comparable HRIS (Human Resources Information System) is highly desired.
