Job Description: Junior Software Engineer
V2X is seeking a results-oriented Junior Software Engineer to join their software development and design teams. This role involves creating advanced systems, particularly for Navy vessels and systems, focusing on areas like spectrum sharing, spectrum control, interference deconfliction, and automated system control. Experience with Navy combat, EW, radar, or C4ISR systems is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Work within an Agile Scrum team to develop full software applications for Navy customers. These applications are typically tailored to specific RF-related activities or systems.
• Quickly adapt existing software to meet dynamic customer needs.
• Write clear software documentation and properly comment code.
• Conduct testing and performance profiling.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum events (grooming, sprint planning, reviews, stand-ups).
• Collaborate with software engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders.
• Follow software engineering best practices (code reviews, unit testing, static analysis).
• Implement new software development process metrics as required by the customer.
• Improve existing tools and applications (resource efficiency, large dataset handling, GIS functions, parallelization, integration with newer software).
• Participate in software development planning and design.
• Adopt cutting-edge development techniques to enhance V2X software products.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance (active clearance preferred).
• 1+ years of experience in software design, engineering, or programming (internships and self-motivated projects may count).
• Proficiency with source control tools like Git.
• Ability to analyze information, solve complex problems, and learn new tools and languages.
• Experience with general-purpose programming languages (C#, Java, or Python).
• Experience with common IDEs (Visual Studio, IntelliJ, or Eclipse).
• Understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently and in teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active SECRET security clearance.
• Experience with an application lifecycle management tool (Azure DevOps or Jira).
• Experience writing software for science and engineering projects.
• C# development experience.
• Agile Scrum team experience.
• Development experience in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Working Environment: Primarily office or remote work, with potential for some on-site customer work. The location is Dahlgren, Virginia.
