Junior Software Engineer | Leidos

This is a full-time, hybrid Junior Software Engineer role at Leidos, supporting the Defense Sector. This position offers the opportunity to be a crucial contributor within a dynamic, product-focused engineering team, helping to design, develop, test, and deliver innovative software products. What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Design and develop robust software components and services using Java, Rust, and JavaScript.
• Build: Build and enhance user-facing features, primarily utilizing React.
• Collaborate: Work effectively within a cross-functional Agile team, leveraging Jira for planning and task execution.
• Test: Write and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and system tests for backend and frontend systems.
• Improve: Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies to support continuous improvement.
The Must-Haves
• Background: US Citizen with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, possessing the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance within 365 days of employment.
• Experience: 2+ years of professional software development experience (or 1+ year with a Master’s degree), with proven experience in Agile/Scrum environments, including familiarity with Jira and automated testing frameworks.
• Skills: Proficiency in Java, Rust, and/or JavaScript; strong problem-solving skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work effectively and collaboratively within an engineering team.
• Bonus: Active Top Secret clearance; experience with CI/CD pipelines or cloud/distributed systems; familiarity with AI-assisted development tools or user-centered design principles.
