About the Job: Junior Giants VISTA Summer Associate

The Junior Giants program, the flagship initiative of the Giants Community Fund, offers a free, noncompetitive baseball and softball experience for over 27,000 underserved youth aged 5-18. Beyond teaching the fundamentals of the game, Junior Giants emphasizes the Four Bases of Character Development: Confidence, Integrity, Leadership, and Teamwork. The program also incorporates vital components in Health, Education, and Bullying Prevention. To learn more, visit giantscommunityfund.org.

Service locations for this role include Carson City (NV), Fernley (NV), Hollister (CA), Medford (OR), Reno (NV), San Francisco (CA), and South San Francisco (CA).

Member Duties:

  • Implement an 8-week summer program in collaboration with the league Commissioner.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of pre-season meetings.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard volunteers.
  • Build organizational systems with the league Commissioner for communication, league management, supplies, and league schedules.
  • Attend all games and practices.
  • Distribute incentives, equipment, uniforms, program materials, and other items.
  • Maintain the organization of the online registration platform.
  • Implement healthy lifestyle programming.
  • Collect parent, volunteer, and player feedback at the end of the season.
  • Distribute tickets and assist with end-of-season inventory.
  • Conduct a community assessment report during the pre-season.
  • Recruit program participants.
  • Participate in various virtual and in-person events, trainings, and meetings.
  • Display professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Manage existing social media account(s) for the assigned league.
  • Recap the service term with an end-of-season report.
