Jr. UX Designer at Nutshell

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Jr. UX Designer to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is an entry-level position, and while prior full-time experience is not required, we welcome applicants who have demonstrated their abilities through internships, part-time jobs, or summer experiences.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You:

• Have a Bachelor’s Degree: Successful candidates typically hold a degree in graphic design, web design, UX, or related fields.
• Excelled Academically: A GPA above 3.4 demonstrates a commitment to learning and strong work ethic.
• Have a Background in Design: A portfolio showcasing excellent graphic design skills, particularly in web design or UX, is a must. We want to see your design eye and understanding of fundamental principles like typography, hierarchy, and layout.

Bonus Points For:

• 0-2 years of experience (internship/part-time/summer job experience preferred).
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Figma.
• Deep knowledge of web design/UX best practices, including responsive design.
• Experience with HTML/CSS coding.
• Proficiency in creating end-to-end UX processes and workflows (user journeys, task analysis, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and evaluative research methods).
• Understanding how to use design artifacts to build alignment, communicate ideas, and deliver exceptional experiences.
• Experience in SaaS product design.

In This Role, You Will:

• Lead the UX process and workflow, collaborating closely with a cross-functional team to build and ship designs.
• Develop high-quality creative solutions to complex problems based on research and goals.
• Create clear user flows, wireframes, and prototypes for user interfaces.
• Plan and lead design sessions to generate ideas and gather feedback.
• Contribute to our existing design system and UI pattern library.
• Partner closely with UI developers to translate designs into reality.
• Work alongside UX researchers to write, facilitate, and analyze user research.
• Collaborate with UX writers to ensure all UI copy meets standards.
• Advocate for the user in all projects.
• Influence the product roadmap through both detailed design and strategic thinking.

Compensation:

Negotiable based on work experience. Potential additional bonus may be offered for GPA’s of 3.8+ or graduating with high honors.
