Position Title: Jr. Systems Engineer Internship

Duration: This internship is expected to last for 12 months.

Locations:
• Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO
• Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Relocation Assistance: None available at this time.

Remote/Telework: Not available for this position; it requires on-site work.

Clearance Type: Requires a DoD Secret Clearance.

Shift: Day shift.

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time.

Description Of Duties:
This entry-level internship supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The Jr. Systems Engineer Intern will collaborate with senior engineers to contribute to and learn about system engineering processes, particularly focusing on the transition from traditional document-based engineering to modern digital engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches. Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting in applying MBSE methodologies for managing complex systems throughout their lifecycle, covering requirements analysis, system design, integration, and verification.
• Using modeling tools such as SysML and other MBSE-specific software.
• Helping to analyze, define, and manage system requirements, translating them into formal representations within MBSE models.
• Contributing to the development and maintenance of system models that represent system architecture, behavior, and interfaces using MBSE tools like SysML.
• Working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, develop designs, and ensure effective communication of technical information.
• Supporting the integration of system elements and assisting in planning and executing verification and validation activities to ensure system requirements are met.
• Gaining proficiency in using MBSE tools and languages (e.g., SysML) and potentially scripting for automation.
• Assisting in the transition from document-centric to model-based engineering, including developing and implementing MBSE methodologies.

Resumes must be submitted in month and year format with the application to be considered. The selected candidate may be employed by one of the teammate companies.

Basic Requirements (Must-Haves):
• At least 1 year of general (full-time) work experience.
• Ability to maintain a restricted badge and work on site 4+ days per week.
• Experience or familiarity with MBSE concepts and tools, particularly SysML.
• Experience in systems engineering.
• Must have, or obtain within 3 months of start date, a current IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE).
• Must have, or be able to obtain, an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Desired Requirements (Nice-to-Haves):
• Familiarity with systems engineering principles, requirements analysis, functional analysis, and systems integration.
• Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Missile Defense System (MDS) programs.

Salary: The expected annual salary for this position is $43,000. This may vary depending on experience, education, and directly related certifications.
