Job Description:
This is a Student position within the ITS User Services department, located at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center. The intern reports to the Manager, User Services.
The role focuses on supporting the end-user desktop and mobile device environment, encompassing:
• Design and Configuration: Assisting in the establishment of design specifications, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software.
• Policy Enforcement: Maintaining and enforcing client computing policies and procedures, including security protocols.
• Hardware Management: Managing client hardware repair or replacement, and maintaining asset inventory control and life cycle management.
• Support Services: Supporting desktop and network copy/print devices and related services.
• Consulting: Providing consulting services with solution providers and vendors, in support of established service level agreements.
• Technical Assistance:
• Assisting technicians with computer repair service, preventive maintenance, and installation services.
• Assisting with inventory and asset management of computer hardware.
• Assisting with managing, processing, and decommissioning of computer surplus equipment.
• Addressing and managing helpdesk support tickets with the assistance of technicians.
• Customer Service: Providing quality customer service and meeting user expectations.
• Special Projects: Completing a special project assigned by the department in support of Information Technology Services.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be currently enrolled as a Tri-C student.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Technical skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Research skills.
• Accurate and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Information Technology Career Track, Software, Desktop Support, Network focused.
• Enrolled Coursework – IT 1010 and similar.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, email, and Internet applications).
• Good communication skills (oral and written), Enthusiastic.
• Familiarity with Information Technology hardware and software systems.
