About the Job: Fall 2025 IT Undergraduate Internship – DC

The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking an IT Undergraduate Intern to support its Information Technology department. This is presented as an exciting opportunity for an energetic student to begin a career in Information Technology.

Job Title: IT Undergraduate Internship.
Direct Employer: Brennan Center for Justice (Lensa promotes the job on behalf of its partners).
Location: This is an in-person internship located at the Brennan Center’s Washington DC office.
Role Purpose: To assist the IT Director in providing crucial help desk support to the Brennan Center’s staff across both their New York and DC offices.
Eligibility: This internship is only open to current undergraduate students.
Duration: The internship is scheduled to run from September – December 2025.
Hours: Interns are expected to work approximately 10 – 20 hours per week.
Pay: The internship offers a compensation rate of $17.50 per hour.
Note on Pay: The Brennan Center will adhere to the rules of the intern’s academic institution. Therefore, if a school’s policy does not permit paid internships (e.g., due to receiving academic credit), the internship will not be paid. For students participating in formal school internship programs that might allow for more than the stated hours, the Center will make a determination based on its needs and a further assessment of the school’s program.

Key Responsibilities:

The IT Undergraduate Intern will be responsible for a variety of IT support tasks, including:
• Providing desktop and telephone technical support to all Brennan Center employees.
• Ensuring proper documentation of all calls and problem resolutions.
• Delivering user-level software support for a range of applications, such as MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), Adobe Acrobat, Office 365, and the Sage fundraising database.
• Performing necessary tasks to upgrade, repair, and replace computers and printers.

Required Experience/Skills/Requirements:

Candidates for this internship should possess:
Technician Level 1 skills.
Strong communication skills, complemented by excellent listening and verbal abilities.
• Proven problem-solving ability and a keen detail-orientation.
• At least a beginner’s knowledge of hardware and software installation.
• Proficiency in MS Office (both desktop and cloud-based applications).
Familiarity with standard desktop concepts, including TCP/IP settings and the ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
Familiarity with major smartphone and tablet models and their operating systems.
• A basic understanding of various mobile device platforms and Macintosh systems.
