Job Description: IT Support Staff Internship – Executive Leadership End-User Support

This internship offers a unique opportunity to provide subject matter expertise for end-user support to Executive Leadership.

As an IT Support Staff Intern, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day Field Services activities associated with supporting key personnel within HII – Mission Technologies lines of business. This includes developing, administering, and executing preventive maintenance programs, overseeing problem management, and performing root cause analysis and corrective action plans.

This is a temporary internship position designed to prepare college students for entry into the workforce by providing training and experience related to their educational discipline and applicable to the company’s business needs. The position is specifically for college students who are rising sophomores or juniors in their academic program. This opportunity will challenge interns with advanced information technology assignments, allowing them to develop skills in various technical areas. This position will be on-site in our Fair Lakes & Tysons Corner, VA offices.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • In support of the assigned functional area, performs professional administrative work of an introductory nature, gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility.
  • Performs work that is pertinent to field of study.
  • May be required to help with research in a particular field for projects and other objectives.
  • Assists in arranging meetings, conferences, and project team activities.
  • Assists in answering questions and/or refers inquiries to the appropriate person.
  • May support staff in assigned project-based work and/or manage minor administrative projects.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must currently be enrolled as a student in an accredited public or private college or university.
  • Must have more than 40% of required college credits completed.
  • Preference for Software and Computer Engineering degrees.
  • Must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA while participating in this internship.

Skills:

  • Overall strong technical proficiency in information technology/computer disciplines.
  • Self-starting with the demonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, particularly Executive Leadership, for this position.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and listening skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be diligent, hardworking, and a fast learner.
  • Desires to gain professional experience and is eager to learn.

Physical Requirements:

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
