This opportunity is for a Tech-Savvy Problem-Solver Student to join as an intern, focusing on IT support. The role serves as the initial point of contact for resolving technical issues, ensuring that employees have the necessary technology and tools to effectively serve the community. The intern will gain hands-on experience in providing responsive Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for a diverse range of devices, systems, and applications, from routine desktop troubleshooting to critical city-wide system support. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, collaboration, and ensuring technology operates seamlessly behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Support: Assist with responding to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support tickets received via various channels including phone, email, in-person, or remote tools, ensuring timely and professional resolution of technical issues.
• Hardware Management: Assist with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
• Onsite & Emergency Support: Assist with coordinating and providing onsite support, and responding to urgent technical issues related to networks, applications, hardware, and critical city-wide systems, including those impacting emergency services and during natural disaster events.
• User Account Management: Assist with managing user accounts and access permissions across various systems, including email, phone, specific applications, and network groups.
• Software Support: Provide first-level support for software and application issues, escalating complex problems to Tier 3 teams when necessary, while strictly adhering to defined permissions and protocols.
• Project Participation: Actively participate in various IT projects, assisting with application deployments, hardware rollouts, and system upgrades in close collaboration with project managers.
• Documentation & Inventory: Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed and contribute to inventory control by cleaning and organizing equipment and supplies.
• Needs Analysis: Assist with communicating with internal departments to analyze their technology needs and provide tailored support for specific business processes.
• Technology Research: Research emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas for improving existing IT services and solutions.
• Customer Service: Deliver a high standard of customer service and maintain positive working relationships with both end-users and fellow IT team members.
• Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the IT department’s operations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and have successfully completed at least two years of study. Additional coursework in planning and urban studies is considered helpful but is not mandatory.
• Driver’s License: A valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required and must be maintained throughout the internship.
• Pre-Employment Screening: Successful completion of a background investigation, including a supervised drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses, is required prior to employment.
Internship Details:
• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
• Duration: The internship is scheduled to run from December 2025 to February 2026.
