Internship Overview:

Cooper IT is delighted to announce a stimulating summer internship opportunity within our Enterprise Information and Architecture group. This role is designed for a highly motivated and academically accomplished rising junior or senior who is eager to learn the intricate operations of a hospital information technology department. The intern will gain hands-on experience with critical data systems and architecture, reporting directly to the Director of Enterprise Information and Architecture within the IT Technology group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully complete daily tasks and contribute effectively to assigned projects within the IT Enterprise Information & Architecture team.
  • Engage directly with SQL database systems and data warehouses, participating in various data extraction and planning activities.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) processes and their underlying technological frameworks.
  • Utilize and enhance skills in data visualization tools, specifically Power BI or similar platforms, to present data insights and project achievements.
  • Provide timely and clear feedback on project progress and accomplishments throughout the internship.
  • Potentially rotate with other IT teams to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of overall IT operational processes within a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and consistently, embodying Cooper University Health Care’s Core Values.
  • Maintain a positive, proactive, and self-motivated attitude throughout the internship period.
  • Prepare and deliver a concise final report at a team meeting, summarizing key responsibilities, major projects, and significant learnings from the internship experience.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, specifically a rising junior or senior.
  • Majoring in a relevant technical academic field such as Computer Science, Management Information System (MIS), Health Information Management, or Data Analytics, or possessing equivalent relevant coursework.
  • Demonstrated exceptional academic achievements (GPA may be considered as part of the application).

Required Skills:

  • Foundational proficiency in SQL language.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
  • Some advanced programming skills, particularly Python.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in a program assistant role, healthcare setting, or customer service is a plus.
