IT Specialist | Modesto City Schools

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Modesto City Schools, located in Modesto, CA. The district is seeking a skilled IT Specialist to join its technology department. This position is vital for maintaining robust enterprise IT environments and enhancing data accessibility through the development of user-friendly reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will apply a strong blend of networking, programming, and data management expertise to contribute to the school district’s operational efficiency and support its educational mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Infrastructure Support: Support and maintain the integrity and performance of enterprise networking environments and critical computer systems operations.
• Application Development: Design, develop, and program new computer applications or enhance existing ones to meet organizational needs.
• Application Analysis: Perform comprehensive analysis of existing applications to identify areas for improvement, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal functionality.
• Web Development: Create, update, and manage web pages, ensuring they are user-friendly and functional using various web development technologies.
• Reporting Solutions: Develop and implement both on-demand and automated data reporting solutions, enabling end-users to easily access and understand critical information.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate. Possessing a valid California Driver’s License is required.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in enterprise networking environments, computer systems and operations, computer programming, and application analysis. Experience with Windows, PowerShell scripting, network environments, web page development, and the development of on-demand and automated end-user data reporting.
• Skills: Web-related programming with technologies such as ASP.NET, JavaScripting, Python, VBScript, XML, HTML, or CSS. Database and query proficiency with SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake. Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Office 365.
