Job Description – 2025 Investment Management Summer Analyst Program – Sales (New York)

This program offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience within the dynamic world of institutional sales and distribution within Morgan Stanley Investment Management. As a Summer Analyst, you’ll be part of one of three core teams:

1. Global Distribution Management: This team acts as a central point of coordination between the Sales organization and other functions within Investment Management. Responsibilities are varied and include:

Business Analysis & Planning: Create analysis and presentations relating to business goals, initiatives, and progress versus benchmarks.
Technology & Data Management: Maintain team information in CRM systems and prepare analytical reports for senior management.
Reporting: Run various daily and ad hoc reports to assist senior management in making strategic decisions.

2. North American Institutional Sales & Global Consultant Relations: This team focuses on building and maintaining relationships with institutional clients and consultants for all MSIM products and services. Responsibilities include:

Client Engagement: Support the sales team in engaging with existing and prospective institutional investors and consultants.
Investment Knowledge: Maintain detailed knowledge of the firm’s investment strategies and institutional client base.
Sales Support: Prepare business plans, sales objectives, forecasts, client channel reporting, and assist with RFPs.
Marketing: Coordinate marketing materials for sales, including client presentations and product performance analyses.
Client Service: Execute business requests across functional areas of the firm, including portfolio management, marketing, legal, and client service.
Pipeline Management: Maintain sales pipeline and prepare client activity reports for senior management.
Relationship Building: Develop strategic content and deploy firm resources to gain mind share and deepen relationships with MSIM’s largest institutional clients and consultants.

3. Alternative Distribution Management: This team focuses on capital raising strategy and distribution of private alternatives across the institutional client channel. Responsibilities include:

Fundraising: Assist in day-to-day tasks of managing multiple private alternative fundraises.
Sales & Marketing: Track sales and marketing activities, maintain pipelines, and organize capital raising strategies.
Client Targeting: Develop prospect lists for the institutional channel in partnership with sales and investment teams.
Presentation Development: Create internal and external presentation decks, populate data rooms, and complete DDQs.
Database Management: Leverage alternative databases to run prospect searches and develop comprehensive summaries for use in client targeting.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and will graduate between December 2025 and June 2026.
• Demonstrate interest in asset management and the institutional investor landscape.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Commitment to a team-oriented environment and a willingness to share ideas and leverage others’ expertise.
• Driven, highly motivated, and results-focused self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; Tableau experience preferred.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively within tight time constraints while managing multiple responsibilities.

Compensation:

The expected base pay rate for the role is $43.27 per hour at the commencement of employment. Total compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
