Job Description – 2025 Investment Management Summer Analyst Program – Product Development and IM Strategy Summer Rotation (New York)

This 10-week program, starting in June, offers Summer Analysts a deep immersion into the culture and operations of Morgan Stanley. You’ll be working alongside full-time analysts and contributing to real projects within the Investment Management (IM) department.

The program exposes you to three key teams within MSIM:

Product Development – Public Markets: This team collaborates with Portfolio Management, Distribution, Senior Management, and internal stakeholders to develop and launch Global Equity, Global Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset investment products. They manage new products through every stage, from idea generation to approval and operational launch.
Product Development – Private Funds / Alternatives: This team oversees the launch of private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and hedge funds. They work with portfolio managers during the fund creation, design, and execution phases, and partner with sales and distribution teams on competitor analysis.
Strategy, Corporate Development, and M&A – MSIM Wide: This team advises MSIM’s senior leadership on strategic priorities and goals. Their responsibilities include developing and executing organic growth initiatives, fundraising plan development, new client coverage program launches, and product launch support. They also lead the division’s corporate development and M&A activities.

The Training Program:

The program combines one week of comprehensive training with nine weeks of hands-on experience on an IM team. The training covers firm-wide orientation, business overviews, professional development, technical training, and networking events.

Primary Responsibilities:

Your role will involve:

Collaborating: Working with Investment Teams, Distribution & Marketing, Legal & Compliance, and Operations to understand strategies, identify opportunities, launch new products, manage mergers and transitions, execute liquidations, and provide ongoing product platform support.
Market Research & Analysis: Conducting market research and analyzing competitor funds, performance, and global investment trends using various fund databases.
Product Development Support: Assisting with offering document development, marketing materials, operational processes, and assessing product demand by speaking with sales teams.
Strategic Growth Initiatives: Supporting organic growth initiatives like new product launches, team lift outs, and sales initiatives.
Corporate Development & M&A Support: Analyzing financial statements and operational information about potential acquisition targets.
Market Analysis: Researching and analyzing various geographical markets and segments within the asset management industry, including China, retirement/DC, and insurance channels.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with graduation between December 2025 and June 2026
• Exceptional academic performance and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and within the organization
• Energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented, thriving in a dynamic environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling competing priorities
• Problem-solving abilities with an analytical and detail-oriented mindset
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Compensation:

The expected base pay rate for the role is $43.27 per hour. However, total compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
