Investment Banking Associate – Technology | William Blair

This role is crucial for supporting investment banking activities, executing transactions, and delivering services to technology sector clients by performing extensive financial analysis, leading due diligence, and providing mentorship to junior team members.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Analysis: Perform extensive financial and valuation analyses to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
• Modeling Expertise: Build advanced financial models to value potential and actual clients and industries, leveraging a broad understanding of valuation and finance/accounting topics.
• Transaction Leadership: Lead due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of potential and live transactions, anticipating and escalating deal issues.
• Client Engagement: Develop, produce, and deliver proposals and presentations to clients and prospects, and actively participate in client meetings and drafting sessions.
• Mentorship & Training: Act as an “on the job” trainer for Analysts, providing constructive feedback and focusing on improving the quality of their work product.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree required, with prior investment banking experience focused on the technology/software sector.
• Experience: 2+ years of prior investment banking experience, strongly preferred as an Investment Banking Analyst, with at least 1 year covering technology/software (or private equity equivalent).
• Skills: Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities, excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills, effective leadership and coaching skills, deep and sophisticated understanding of accounting and finance, ability to manage expectations of senior bankers while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Regulatory: SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment.
