Travel Demand Modeling Intern – Traffic & Planning | DCCM
The Tone:
This is an internship at DCCM. The company works on meaningful projects that shape regional transportation infrastructure. This role provides an opportunity to directly contribute to these projects, applying technical skills to create real-world impact. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard travel demand modeling platforms, supporting critical analyses for future transportation networks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Construction: Construct, calibrate, analyze, test, and document inputs for travel demand models.
• Data Analysis: Analyze socioeconomic data, household travel surveys, and origin-destination data under supervision.
• Model Validation: Assist with model validation against existing conditions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Performance Forecasting: Apply models to forecast future transportation network performance under different growth scenarios, policy changes, and major infrastructure projects.
• Reporting & Presentation: Support the preparation of technical memos, reports, and presentations for internal teams, clients, and public stakeholders.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, urban planning, geography, data science, or a related field. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Experience: Exposure to travel demand modeling concepts and terminology, along with exposure to construction and manipulation of layers in a GIS environment.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities, and the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
