Job Title: Internship – Programmer for Environmental Consulting

Location: Syracuse, NY

Compensation: $23.00 / hour

The Opportunity:

  • Requires regular presence in the Syracuse, NY office.

  • Work directly with senior- and principal-level professionals, assisting with project-related tasks.

  • Conclude the program with a solid understanding of environmental consulting principles and practices.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Majoring in a field related to one of our areas of expertise, such as:
    • Environmental Analytics and Programming
    • Technology and Innovation (e.g., data science, geospatial science)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical information effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated project management mindset to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong desire to work collaboratively with others to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to balance a professional attitude while fostering a fun work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to deliver a defined Capstone Project with assistance from senior engineers, scientists, planners, and other professionals. To support this goal, interns may be asked to:

  • Support implementation of remedial investigations/feasibility studies and design evaluations.
  • Conduct research and analysis around prospective clients, industry trends, strategies, and activation needs.
  • Assist with field planning, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Assist with research and data entry for new business initiatives.
  • Partner to complete field sampling activities in-water and/or on land.
  • Support project field documentation and preparation of figures and tables for project deliverables.
  • Conduct various field activities, including collection of sediment, soil, water, air, waste, or biota samples or other field tasks.
  • Complete OSHA HAZWOPER training as required.
  • Update documents, calendars, schedules, and weekly statuses.

2026 Internship Program Timeline:

  • February 9 – February 20: Application submittal period
  • March 16 – March 20: Anchor QEA interviews take place nationwide
  • March 30 – April 3: Selected candidates receive offers
  • May 19: Earliest start date for interns (subject to availability)
