Role Overview
APCO is seeking forward-thinking and enthusiastic seniors and recent graduates fluent in Portuguese and/or Spanish to join our full-time, paid internship program within the Office of the Executive Chairman (OXC). This dynamic and fast-paced team supports our founder and chairman, Margery Kraus, on a range of new business proposals, client support, and thought leadership content, consistently operating at a global level.
The interns will play a crucial role in supporting our international communication and public affairs efforts, with a particular focus on Latin America-related requests. This involves conducting research, analyzing data, preparing reports, and assisting with various projects. Key responsibilities include monitoring media coverage and social media in Latin America, as well as drafting content in Portuguese and/or Spanish. The ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in Latin American geopolitics, culture, and events. While the primary focus is on Latin America, interns will also have the opportunity to explore other areas and support different teams across APCO.
This internship may be based in our Washington DC or New York office.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting research and analysis on issues related to clients in Portuguese and/or Spanish-speaking countries.
- Monitoring media coverage and social media platforms, with an emphasis on Latin America.
- Writing and translating content for clients in Portuguese and/or Spanish.
- Drafting briefs for new business opportunities, fact sheets, and editorial content.
- Monitoring issues or news events relevant to client interests or regional dynamics.
- Identifying and compiling lists of media contacts.
- Editing and proofreading client deliverables to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Assisting in the development of client proposals.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the OXC team and broader APCO initiatives.
Qualifications
- Recent college graduate or senior in class standing.
- Fluent in written and spoken Portuguese and/or Spanish is required.
- Experience studying or working in a Portuguese and/or Spanish-speaking country is a plus.
- The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and highly attentive to detail.
- Applicants are expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience successfully balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Requires US Work Authorization; unable to consider candidates with CPT/OPT/Post-OPT status.
Work Schedule & Location
- Interns work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- APCO is committed to a hybrid and flexible working environment. You will be provided with a company laptop to facilitate seamless work from home and in the office.
- The internship may sit in our Washington DC or New York office.
Compensation
- This is a paid internship at a fixed hourly rate of $17.95.
Program Dates
- The internship commences on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026.
- The program concludes on Friday, December 11th, 2026.
