Internship/Graduation Assignment: Deformable Sheet Unit

General Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative student to develop a unit that can deform printed sheets in a controlled manner for testing purposes. Our high-speed printers transport a large volume of loose sheets. These sheets can become deformed due to ink, moisture, and environmental factors. To ensure the robustness of our machines, we need to verify their ability to handle these deformed sheets during transport. In certain phases of machine development, we prefer to avoid using ink, thus requiring a device that can precisely deform sheets without the need for printing.

Your Role:

You will be tasked with designing, building, and testing a unit that can deform sheets according to predefined specifications. This unit will be integrated into our existing machines to simulate the real-world scenarios encountered during sheet transport.

Activities:

Clarify Requirements: Conduct thorough research and define the specific requirements for the sheet deformation unit based on our needs and challenges. Collaborate with experienced engineers and colleagues to gather insights and establish clear goals.
Generate Ideas: Utilize a design approach aligned with the Fontys curriculum to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions for the sheet deformation unit. Explore various concepts and evaluate their feasibility and effectiveness.
Design & Development: Translate the chosen design into a physical prototype (breadboard or functional test setup). Construct and test the prototype to validate its functionality and meet the established requirements.
Verification & Testing: Develop a comprehensive test plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the designed unit. Execute the test plan and analyze the results.
Reflect & Recommend: Document your findings, provide recommendations for improvements, and discuss the overall project outcomes.

Your Profile:

• Currently enrolled in a MD/Mechatronics Engineering program or equivalent (BSc level)
• Strong interest in challenging engineering assignments
• Proficient in project management and independent work

Benefits:

• Gain valuable experience in a challenging engineering environment under skilled mentorship
• Receive competitive internship/graduation compensation (€500,- per month)
• Enjoy travel cost reimbursement if you do not possess an ‘OV-weekcard’
• Expand your professional network by collaborating with diverse teams
• Contribute to a company culture that values collaboration, innovation, and ownership.
