Internship Details

This internship is with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) within the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD), part of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy, and Compliance (DMSPC).

Location: In-person, full-time (35 hours per week) at the United Nations headquarters.

Duration: 2-6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on the needs of the department.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide administrative and substantive support to the office.
Assist in developing training materials and organizing briefings/training sessions.
Support on-going projects and reform initiatives.
Collect data for General Assembly and Office of Internal Oversight Services reports, and budgetary submissions.
Conduct research on various topics, analyze information, and present findings.
Assist with preparing background documentation, drafting correspondence/communications, reports, and presentations.
Participate in meetings, conferences, and seminars; take notes, draft summaries, minutes, or assessment reports.
Review project comments/evaluations and progress reports; summarize findings and lessons learned.
Develop visual solutions from multiple data sources to enable insight and decision making.
Identify, research, draft, and edit content (text, photos, documents, and multimedia) for online publication (website and social media) in line with UN media guidelines.
Identify and contact talent communities (through cold calling, email campaigns, and social media) to advertise open and future job opportunities.
Perform other activities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Applicants must have a field of study that is related to the type of internship that they are applying for.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish).
