About Canon Production Printing
Canon Production Printing is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-tech printing products and workflow software for the commercial printing market. As part of the global Canon corporation, they provide imaging technologies and services worldwide. Canon Production Printing operates on three continents, employing approximately 3300 individuals (as of late 2022) and has its global headquarters in Venlo, Netherlands.
Internship: Developing a Hardware Simulator for Printer Configuration
Challenge:
Canon Production Printing collaborates with multiple international manufacturers to deliver complete solutions for high-value customers. Their R&D team requires a hardware simulator to test and develop printer configurations that involve external machines, like punchers or creasers. These external machines are costly and not readily available within their R&D environment.
Your Role:
As an HBO IT or HBO (Applied) Computer Sciences student with a passion for real-time embedded software and a desire to work with real machines, you will be tasked with developing this simulator. Your work will directly impact the development of future printers and be utilized by CPP R&D for years to come.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Design and develop the simulator software for an existing CPP stacking module.
• Gather requirements and translate them into a functional solution.
• Develop using Canon’s state-of-the-art model-driven toolset for Linux based platforms.
• Test and refine your software throughout the development process.
• Collaborate with a team of 4 embedded software engineers and a product owner.
Required Skills:
• Strong understanding of embedded software and Linux.
• Proficiency in GIT.
• Ability to design applications that connect internal and external interfaces.
