Job Description: Internship – Design Engineer

General Description:

We transport a lot of loose printed sheets in our highly productive printers. Ink, moisture, and climate conditions can cause these sheets to deform. To ensure our machines can reliably handle these deformed sheets during verification, we need a unit that can deform sheets in a defined way for testing.

This internship assignment involves developing a unit capable of deforming sheets in a controlled manner, and integrating it into our existing machines. If you are interested, creative, and relish a challenge, this is an ideal opportunity for you.

Activities:

Clarify Requirements: Analyze the problem of sheet deformation, understand the specific challenges, and translate these into concrete design requirements. Information will be gathered through discussion with your coaches and colleagues with expertise in this field.
Generate Ideas: Develop creative design solutions using methods aligned with the courses at Fontys.
Prototype Design: Choose the best design concept and build a breadboard or function test setup.
Test and Verify: Verify the functionality of the prototype through rigorous testing.
Test Plan: Create a comprehensive test plan for evaluating the performance and robustness of the final design.
Execution: Execute the test plan and gather results.
Reflection: Document your findings, observations, and recommendations for further development and optimization of the sheet deformation unit.

Your Profile:

• Studying MD/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent (BSc level)
• Seeking an internship that presents an intriguing design challenge
• Able to independently survey a project and manage your workload

What’s in it for you?

• A challenging assignment with skilled coaching
• Internship/Graduation compensation of €500 per month
• Travel cost compensation if you don’t have an ‘OV-weekcard’
• Networking opportunities with professionals inside and outside your field
• The chance to work in a company that values collaboration, innovation, and ownership, where you’ll be empowered to contribute to impactful projects.
