Job Description: Internship – Design and Development of a Sheet Deformation Unit

General Description:

Our highly productive printers transport a large volume of loose printed sheets. However, factors like ink, moisture, and climate conditions can cause these sheets to deform. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to develop a unit capable of intentionally deforming sheets in a controlled manner. This unit will be integrated into our machines to test the robustness of our sheet transport systems and ensure they can handle deformed sheets effectively.

Activities:

This challenging internship will involve:

Problem Clarification and Requirement Definition:
• Analyze the challenges of handling deformed sheets in our printers.
• Identify specific deformation types and their impact on sheet transport.
• Translate these challenges into detailed design requirements for the deformation unit.
Idea Generation and Design:
• Generate creative ideas for sheet deformation mechanisms through a design approach aligned with Fontys University of Applied Sciences’ curriculum.
• Select the most promising idea and translate it into a detailed design for a breadboard or function test setup.
Test Setup Verification and Validation:
• Build the breadboard or test setup.
• Conduct thorough testing to validate the functionality and performance of the design.
Test Plan Development and Execution:
• Develop a comprehensive test plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the deformation unit.
• Execute the test plan and analyze the results.
Reflection and Recommendations:
• Summarize your findings and provide recommendations for further development or optimization of the deformation unit.

Your Profile:

• Currently studying MD/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent at the BSc level.
• Looking for an internship that presents a stimulating design challenge.
• Able to independently research, plan, and execute this project.

What’s in it for You?

• An opportunity to tackle a challenging technical problem within a global company.
• Skilled coaching and support from experienced professionals.
• Internship/graduation compensation of €500 per month.
• Travel cost compensation if you do not have an OV-weekcard (public transport pass).
• Networking opportunities with professionals in your field and other disciplines.
• A chance to apply your knowledge and contribute to innovative solutions in a collaborative and empowering environment.
