Job Description: Internship Assignment – AI-Driven Process Optimization
This internship focuses on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize work processes within Canon Production Printing (CPP) Consumables, specifically targeting indirect employees (primarily engineers). The assignment is structured in two key phases:
Phase 1: Work Activity Mapping: The intern will begin by thoroughly mapping the work activities of selected engineers at CPP Consumables. This involves a detailed analysis of their day-to-day tasks and processes.
Phase 2: AI-Driven Optimization and Waste Reduction: Based on the work activity mapping, the intern will identify opportunities to improve these processes using AI tools. This includes exploring how AI can support and enhance current work activities, and investigating the potential for reducing “waste” (in the Lean sense) within these processes. A key deliverable will be a list of best practices for utilizing AI tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Specific Tasks:
• Conduct thorough analysis of work activities performed by specified engineers within CPP Consumables.
• Identify areas where AI tools can improve efficiency and productivity, reducing waste according to Lean principles.
• Research and recommend specific AI tools and techniques to address identified inefficiencies.
• Develop a comprehensive report detailing findings, recommendations, and best practices for using AI in the workplace.
• Utilize Microsoft Copilot Pro as the primary AI tool, although exploration of other AI tools is encouraged.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (HBO) degree program in IT, Engineering, Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency and experience using AI tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT.
• Strong English language skills are essential; proficiency in Dutch is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, demonstrating curiosity and flexibility.
• Availability for a 4-6 month internship starting in February 2025.
