Internal Audit Internship | FM
The Tone:
This is a hybrid part-time to full-time internship at FM, with the office located in Johnston, Rhode Island. FM stands as a prominent property insurer, serving over one-third of FORTUNE 1000-size companies by delivering engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions. The company is dedicated to helping clients ensure business continuity through its advanced loss-prevention engineering, research, risk management expertise, and robust financial strength. This Internal Audit Internship plays a vital role in supporting the Internal Audit staff in documentation and testing for annual financial statement audits, thereby contributing to the company’s operational integrity and financial assurance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Perform Audit Procedures: Execute audit procedures as defined in the audit program, which may include audit sampling and confirmations.
• Document Test Results: Accurately record the outcomes of audit tests, including documenting business processes and identified controls.
• Report Progress: Regularly update the supervisor on audit progress, challenges, and initial findings from control testing.
• Clear Review Notes: Proactively address and resolve review notes provided by supervisors to ensure audit quality and completeness.
• Support Engagements: Provide assistance with testing on various internal audit engagements, including the review of account reconciliations and other assigned tasks.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, having completed the sophomore year (rising junior or senior), with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
• Experience: No professional experience explicitly required; focus on academic progression and a demonstrated interest in auditing.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, keen attention to detail and accuracy, strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bonus: Pursuing an accounting degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s), career interest in auditing, and PeopleSoft technical skills and experience.
