Program Intern, Internal Audit | Pilot Company

This is a full-time internship at Pilot Company, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Pilot Company is an industry-leading network of travel centers with over 750 retail and fueling locations across 44 states and six Canadian provinces, complemented by an energy and logistics division that supplies fuel and critical services. The Internal Audit Intern role offers a unique opportunity to directly improve operational efficiency by participating in audits, evaluating policies and procedures for compliance, and identifying areas for improvement within this extensive organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Participation: Work with the team to review company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and evaluating them for improved efficiencies.
• Store Audit Support: Assist with store audits, which may involve some travel with all associated costs covered by Pilot Company.
• Academic Application: Apply academic knowledge to real-life corporate processes and policies, gaining practical application of your skills.
• Data Analysis: Utilize tools such as Excel and Tableau to perform general audit and sampling techniques.
• Project Leadership: Independently own a project that makes a positive impact on the organization.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business major. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required.
• Skills: Proficiency in Excel; strong ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at varying levels; a keen eye for detail, curiosity, and excellent problem-solving skills; and a collaborative and reliable team player.
• Bonus: An interest in process design or industrial design; a basic understanding of data visualization tools like Tableau; experience with general audit and sampling techniques; participation in organizations like Beta Alpha Psi; or holding a leadership role such as a group treasurer.
