Job Summary
Veeco Instruments is seeking an Internal Audit Intern to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in internal control, financial, compliance, and operational audits. The intern will work closely with the Director, Internal Audit, contributing to various phases of the audit plan and building essential auditing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Plainview, NY (Local candidates only)
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Director, Internal Audit.
Duration
- Part-time employment during the Fall & Spring semesters (a minimum of 16 hours a week)
- Full-time employment during the Summer & Winter breaks (40 hours a week)
Your Role & Key Responsibilities
As an Internal Audit Intern, you will apply classroom learning to real-world scenarios and develop new skills through paid work directly related to your field. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in performing internal control, financial, compliance, and operational audits as part of the annual audit plan.
- Supporting the Company’s SOX 404 compliance assessment and testing activities.
- Assisting in forming and documenting Audit Test plans, performing data analytics, uploading data, and preparing document request lists.
- Contributing to other aspects of completing the audit plan and tracking/reporting the status of audit projects.
- Preparing and updating Audit Test Templates and Work-paper Folders.
- Assisting with the preparation of presentations for Management and the Audit Committee.
- Assisting in updating and organizing the Internal Audit (IA) databases.
- Assisting in developing Audit Test Steps using Data Analytics scripts.
- Assisting in record-keeping and filing of IA work-papers and audit material.
- Scanning and filing audit documentation in the IA shared drive.
- Assisting with logistics and planning for audit trips and meetings.
- Evaluating controls, preparing test templates, performing attribute testing, and documenting findings.
- Obtaining data from other functions within the organization during audits.
- Participating in meetings to gain a full understanding of the audit process.
Seeking Someone With Interest/Experience In The Following Areas
- Internal or external audit experience.
- Fair knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) Standards.

Required Qualifications
- At least a Junior (or within 1 semester from completing your sophomore year) enrolled in an Undergraduate or working towards a Masters in an Accounting program.
- Ability to work a minimum of 16 hours a week during Fall/Spring semesters and full-time (40 hours a week) during Summer/Winter breaks.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong focus on quality and service with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proactive approach; ability to take initiative and own assignments.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal personnel.
- Candidate should be eligible to legally work in the US.
- Graduation date of May 2027 or beyond.
