Internal Agency Surgical Technologist – Certified
Summary
The Internal Agency Surgical Technologist- Certified is responsible for assisting the healthcare team in providing safe and quality patient care in the operating room. This role requires a high level of knowledge, skill, and ability to perform duties within the context of moderate to high acuity surgical cases. The ideal candidate will be able to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other members of the healthcare team, demonstrate an efficient and organized surgical plan, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Core Responsibilities
• Assists the healthcare team in providing safe and culturally aware patient care.
• Prepares the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment.
• Gathers required instruments, supplies, and serves as a surgical assistant as needed.
• Assists with inventory, ordering, and stocking of ORs and additional perioperative areas.
• Ensures that the unit is always compliant with Joint Commission standards.
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited program in surgical technology or a licensed practical nurse.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist.
Preferred Currently pursuings
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high acuity surgical setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
• Call or late coverage may be required.
• The ideal candidate will be able to mentor, precept, or train students and new employees.
• The candidate must be able to maintain twenty (20) hours in continuing education related to the field per evaluation period.
