The Tone:
This is an internship at Dassault Systèmes, located in San Diego, CA (hybrid). Dassault Systèmes, through its BIOVIA brand, develops scientific modeling, simulation, and design methods for life sciences customers, utilizing advanced software like the BIOVIA Discovery Studio suite and the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. This role is crucial for advancing computational biology, machine learning, and drug discovery by developing and validating novel applications that will impact product direction and customer solutions. What You’ll Actually Do
• Development: Develop and validate novel scientific modeling, simulation, and design methods for the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, with potential projects focusing on protein and biologics modeling pipelines using machine learning models.
• Research: Contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of computational biology, machine learning, and drug discovery, including the application of machine learning and statistical modeling to MD simulations (e.g., Markov processes, end-to-end differentiable models).
• Application: Design and implement structure-based drug design applications such as binding pocket prediction and molecular docking, incorporating energy scoring and machine learning models.
• Assessment: Utilize computational tools for antibody developability assessment, evaluating properties like viscosity, aggregation propensity, and stability.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure automated test coverage of new functionality and participate in discussions with Product Management and customer-facing teams regarding product direction and new features.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively enrolled in a Master’s Degree or PhD program focusing on computational chemistry, structural biology, computational biology, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous software development experience is required.
• Skills: Proficient in a programming language such as Python, C++, or Java; Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing; Attention to detail and scientific curiosity; Ability to work in a collaborative team.
