Job Description: Intern Pharmacist

Job Summary
An Intern Pharmacist performs the duties of a registered Pharmacist while working under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in the fulfillment of his/her practical experience requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
Performs typical duties of a Pharmacist, including:
• Manufacturing.
• Dispensing.
• Maintaining control of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
• Performing other related work as required.
• May substitute for absent pharmacy personnel as necessary.
• Must be willing and capable of preparing chemotherapy drugs using approved procedures.

Experience
Basic Qualifications: N/A

Education
• Currently attending an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• OR holding a BS in Pharmacy with an application for a CA pharmacist license submitted.

License, Certification, Registration
• Must possess an Intern Pharmacist License (California).

Additional Requirements
Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
Knowledgeable of modern pharmacology, compounding prescriptions, drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical supplies.
Ability to extract pertinent information from patients or other sources and relate it to the patient’s medical management plan.
Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and the healthcare team.
• Must demonstrate a caring attitude towards patients and customers and be able to interact effectively in a courteous manner.
• Must be able to participate effectively in courtesy programs.
• Expected to demonstrate effective participation and contribution in all aspects of HMO Pharmaceutical service.
• Must have a demonstrated record of attendance and punctuality per department needs.
Ability to either type 30 WPM/6000 KPH, or type prescription labels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Skills Testing
Typing 30 WPM OR 6,000 KPH.
