Job Description:
Levy restaurants at the Huntington Convention Center offer a unique internship opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in horticulture and animal care on their urban farm. This paid internship will equip you with fundamental skills in farm animal care and horticulture. You will engage in daily farm operations, learning to balance the needs of the animals and plants to create a thriving ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
• Animal Care:
• Tending to ducks, chickens, pigs, and goats
• Daily feeding and ensuring access to clean water
• Monitoring and addressing basic health needs
• Cleaning animal enclosures
• Horticulture:
• Growing and maintaining a variety of herbs used in Levy’s Kitchen
• Learning about plant species suitable for the local climate
• Understanding the benefits of plants and herbs to the overall farm ecosystem
• Assisting in planting, watering, and harvesting herbs.
Requirements:
• Interest in horticulture and animals
• Preferably someone in school for vet tech or horticulture programs
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with farm work (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods)
• Open availability, including weekends
• Enthusiasm for learning and working in an outdoor environment
