The Intern – Food and Beverage Operations position is offered through the Sodexo Live! Intern Program, designed for currently enrolled college students seeking to gain valuable on-the-job experience and leadership development.

Location: The internship is based at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a top public institution known for academic excellence, athletics, and a vibrant community.

Principal Function:
The Intern – Operations is responsible for creating unique dining experiences. This involves actively supervising and participating in the execution of both catered and quick-serve functions. The intern will work closely with culinary and operations staff to ensure that all events are executed smoothly and adhere to client specifications. A key aspect of the role is collaborating with Operations managers to ensure that Sodexo Live!’s overall standards for accuracy, efficiency, quality, and financial performance are consistently met.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Maximize Sodexo Live!’s revenue and operational excellence through the implementation and oversight of systems and policies related to catering and quick-serve events.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the business, ensuring all aspects of operations and events are completed in an efficient and effective manner.
• Contribute to the overarching goal of establishing Sodexo Live! as the #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.

Qualifications/Skills:
Education: Must be a current college student enrolled in a program related to hospitality/food management, communications, human resources, accounting, marketing, or another industry-related field.
Abilities & Soft Skills:
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Exceptional ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Keen ability to connect easily with others and create positive positioning within various contexts.

Other Requirements:
Physical Demands: Must be able to work effectively and safely in environments that may include wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver in often tightly-quartered environments.
Work Schedule: Hours may be extended or irregular, potentially including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedules.
